Description: Irishtown, Tasmania, has always been an enthusiastic sporting community. Its sporting carnivals were well attended events and first began in Tom O'Hallorans paddock in 1904. Pictured is the large gathering at the first Irishtown sports. The success of these sports resulted in the acquisition of the recreation ground at Irishtown in 1921 with a concrete cycling track that ranked as one of the best in Tasmania.
