Description: View of Smithton, Tasmania from the Marrawah tram shed 1904. Marrawah settlers overcame many difficulties to build the 30 mile line to Smithton that linked up with J S Lee's steel tramway, part of which had been in use in Smithton. The first train from Marrawah to Smithton was run on the 5 February 1913. The service survived for 30 years but the Pelican Point branch of this railway had closed February 14th 1940.
