Description: A rectangular tin can (tinned mild steel) with screw lid pouring hole and a handle at the top. Used for transporting mutton-bird oil. The attached label has the trademark ROX, in a triangle, and the following description: MUTTON BIRD OIL EMULSION A refined product containing 50 per cent. of the Crop Oil of the Mutton Bird or Sooty Petrel. This oil, which is produced in the Bass Strait Islands, is a 100 per cent Australian product, said to be the equal of the finest Cod Liver Oil. Mutton Bird Oil has a very high vitamin value which makes it of great use in Phthisis and all wasting diseases. This oil also contains Phosphorus and Iodine and this emulsion - the remainder of label is difficult to read. Mutton-bird oil for medicinal use was exported from Flinders Island.
