Description: B/W photo-copy of the opening of the Cygnet Town Hall. The towns people in their finest clothing turning out to celebrate the opening of the Town Hall, it was quite a big event during the early days the year was 1913. Extract from the Newspaper "Centenary of the Settlement of the Huon" The need for a Town Hall was suggested to the Cygnet council by Councillor Davies in 1908, the council borrowed 2000 pounds for that purpose. The foundation stone was laid by Warden Arthur Davies on August 7, 1913, and the hall opened for use at the end of that year (1913).
