      Date: 1900 -

Description: A large scythe, possibly homemade, with a curved metal blade made from two pieces of steel forged together and bolted to a long curved wooden shaft. Two small handles are bolted onto the main shaft. In addition to being bolted to the shaft, the blade has also been tied to the shaft with wire to prevent it moving while in use. The shaft has wire tied around it in four places. probably to strengthen it.
