Description: A memorial made of stone 1 metre high X 270 mm in circumference, with two bronze plaques to commemorate the collection of the first specimens of Eucaluptus obliqua by David Nelson, botanist, at the time of Captain Cook's visit to Adventure Bay in Australia in 1777. Located at Mavista picnic area and nature walk reserve. Inscription on one plaque reads " This monument commemorates the collection of the 'type' specimen of Eucalyptus obliqua (stringy bark) by Captain Cook at Adventure Bay in 1777." The other plaque as illustrated in attachment one.
