A steward was sick ashore with yellow fever but desperately wanted to get back to his family. Captain Ikin acquiesced but soon the man died along with the Captain, Mate and 4 others. With no navigator the 3 remaining crew continued exhausted until an American ship guided her to Batavia (Indonesia).
