Description: Men and children standing on and near cut timber at with the mill buildings in the background at Charles Grey's sawmill at Smithton. The original mill was in Gibson Street near the Emmerton Park Hostel, Smithton, Tasmania and had a tramway so it could deliver the timber directly to the wharf. Charles Grey was the first to establish a sawmill in Circular Head after J S Lees. After his death the mill was taken over by his sons and was known as Grey Bros.
