Description: People leaving after the official opening of the Breakwater jetty and wharf at Stanley, Tasmania. The steamship 'Kawatiri' is moored at the wharf. The breakwater cost $40,000 to build and was completed in January 1905. The breakwater was built to protect the new and old wharves from the easterly winds.
