Description: A sledgehammer retrieved from the 450 metre level of the Hart Shaft of the old Tasmania Gold Mine. Mine closed in 1914. The hammer is encrusted in thick rust deposits - wooden handle still in good condition. Retrieved in July 2003 by the present mine personel.
