Description: This building is situated at No. 3 Lonsdale Promenade in Westbury, Tasmania. The home was built in c. 1832 and was first occupied by the District Assistant Surgeon Dr. J. Clerke who was later succeeded by Dr. Marcus R. Loane in October 1834. The Belstead family lived at this address for a number of years. The house was used as a private residence until 1938 when it was purchased by Dr. H.Z.Stephens who used the structure as a family residence and doctor's surgery. The front verandah of the home was removed some years ago. The colonial dwelling has undergone some structural improvements and restoration work over the decades but has retained many of it's original architectural features. The former residence and surgery has now reverted back to a private home. The photograph was taken in April 1993 from the western direction.
