Description: Brass bell from the vessel Jessie Maersk. Beehive shape with ring on top. Inscribed "JESSIE 29-9-54". In August 1954 the Jessie Maersk left Napier, New Zealand, with 1,434 head of Black Angus Cross cattle, arriving at Bells Bay, Tasmania, on September 29th. Mr H.B. (Bun) Blundstone accompanied the voyage as shipping director and was presented with this bell to mark the occasion. It was made on board the ship from a tail shaft by the 2nd Engineer. 800 head of cattle were shipped to Flinders Island to stock some of the War Service land Settlement farms.
