James Willett was later owner and skipper of the Dawn, one of the ships servicing Flinders Island during the late 1800's.The planes comprise a wooden beading plane with a steel 3/8" beader blade and a wooden rebate plane with 5/8" steel blade - both inscribed A MATHIESON & SON, GLASGOW & EDINBURGH, around a trademark of a crescent moon and a star. Both came from Jacks Shipyard, Launceston. The third is a wooden plough plane with a 7/16" blade, which was used for cutting grooves along the grain. It is inscribed on one end W GREENSLADE BRISTOL and the initials RD.
