![]() Click thumbnail for a larger image. | Description: The ALICE was a 49 ton ketch built at Cygnet in 1904 by John Wilson for H Jones & Co. In May 1927 Alice's engine failed after an unsuccessful attempt to cross the bar at St Helens before daylight. She was swept onto the sand bar and abandoned along with her cargo from Launceston. Her master lost 3 months of work while awaiting an enquiry and was found to have shown a lack of judgement.
