George Marshall Bottles

      Date: 1854 -

Description: Three glass bottles, two of similar design and make with rounded base and long neck with double lipped top and concretion inside. Third has square base with wide, rounded neck which has two raised convex circles, has external and internal concretion. The George Marshall was beached on 15th January, 1862 at Marshall Bay, Flinders Island having been holed by hitting a rock off the Kent group the previous day. All crew and passengers were saved and camped in the dunes until rescued. The bottles were found at the camp site.
