Description: The official opening of Breakwater jetty and the and new wharf at Stanley, Tasmania in 1905. Large crowd gathered near flags awaiting the arrival of the steamship 'Kawatiri' seen in the choppy sea. Sir Gerald Strickland the Governor of Tasmania travelled to Circular Head to perform the opening and to cut the ribbon across the approach to the breakwater.
