Description: The steamship LOTTAH was built at Port Cygnet in 1895 by John Wilson. For many years the LOTTAH took passengers and goods from Hobart down the Channel and up the Huon River. Often her arrival was heralded by a sudden explosion and a pillar of smoke. Every 3 hours or so her perpendicular boiler tubes would become so choked she couldn't steam. Her Captain found that the addition of blasting powder to the boiler was an effective if noisy solution. Later, in the 1920s, LOTTAH took tourists up the Gordon River.
