Both skippered she-oakers, both had only one eye and both enjoyed a drink and a song at the Lord Nelson pub. Barrett's vessel was the old cutter, WATERLILY. She-oakers were often old and leaky but Barrett reckoned WATERLILY was so tight that the pump-box was full of spider webs.
