      Description: The ships 'Defender', 'Leederry', 'Wombat' and 'Mileeta' berthed at Smithton Wharf at Duck River. In 1946 Kauri Sawmill still trading as J S Lee and Sons purchased the 'Wombat' and 'Leederry' which became regular Duck River traders. The 'Mileeta' and 'Defender' were ships regularly used in the timber trade by J S Lee and other Smithton sawmillers.
