Description: Fragment from a china plate. The plate has a blue chain print and blue rope print around the outside, and the Tasmanian Steam Navigation Company flag is also featured. Recovered from the 'Southern Cross,' the Tasmanian Steam Navigation Company's steamship, which sailed for Melbourne with a cargo of potatoes and 40 passengers in 1889. She was impaled on an unchartered rock and wrecked at Rocky Cape. The TSN sold out to the Union Steam Navigation Company of New Zealand in 1891.
