Description: Crowd dressed in their finery in the grandstand and around the track at the Stanley, Tasmania, races in 1901. Races were first held in Stanley on Tatlows Beach in the 1850's. They were then tranferred to the Green Hills and meets were held between 1880 and 1890. The club then obtained permission to clear ground owned by the VDL Co and set up the race track which was used until recent times.
