Description: This country store and residence was situated on the corner of the Meander Valley Road and William Street in Westbury, Tasmania. A part of this building was transported from another site in the town and converted into this store. The recycled section was originally owned by a former Local Council Warden Mr. Roddam H. Douglas who was a grain buyer and transport operator. The General Store was opened in c.1895 and was operated by the Sisters Lamb for several decades. In the early 1940's, Mr. Syd Lucas purchased the building and establised a Produce Store and Transport Depot. The structure was demolished in the c.1970's and a private residence was built on the site in 1985. The image was captured c.1940 from the south-eastern direction.
