Description: Photo of the Garden Island Creek sawmill owned by Ford and Harris, this was the second mill built. Timber linned along jetty to be picked up by a river steamer either "The Rose" or the "The Hero" both were owned by Ford and Harris, either of these two boats could sail up the creek at high tide to pick up their loads of timber. The Mercury of 1876 describes the new machinery to be installed in the new mill, and that it was being shipped to Garden Island Creek by the Ketch the "May Queen". This mill was on the same site as the previous sawmil, and large sandstone blocks used for foundations for the boiler and engine are still visible.
