He arrived with two assigned convicts arrived at the Derwent River on the whaler King George on the 7th October 1806. He recieved a grant of 175 acres on the Eastern Shore of the Derwent River. His property was known as Morgan's farm - Kangaroo Bay. In 1807 Morgan had 3 acres in wheat, 1 acre of barley plus 2 cattle, one goat and 40 sheep. By 1812 the family occupied 190 acres.
