Description: This structure is situated at No. 42 William Street in Westbury Tasmania. The store was built in the latter part of the 19th century in the town's commercial zone. The business traded as "Morrison and Company General Merchants" for several years in that era. The building was purchased by Mr. J.P.Sullivan in c. 1903 who traded as "J. P. Sullivan, King of the Storekeepers". In 1904, various alterations were made at the shop including the addition of several plate glass windows. An overhead wire money conveyance machine operated in the store for a number of years. The Maloney family bought the business in 1949 and traded from this address from the 1st. of April 1949 until the 31st. of March 1988. Today a supermarket is established at this site and trades under the Maloney business name. The original brick horse stable situated on the south-western side of the emporium still remains intact. The image was captured from the north-eastern direction in September, 2003.
