The grandstand was officially opened at a ceremony held on the 28th. June 1952 by the Tasmanian Attorney General, Mr. R. Fagan. He was assisted at the function by the Warden of Westbury, Mr. C.A. Archer and the Chairman of the Sports and Recreation Ground Committee Mr.R.V. Harris. The photograph was taken from the north-eastern direction in May 2004.
