Description: Stanley, Tasmania - Highfield before restoration. Highfield and the farm was leased to the Ford family from 1857 until 1914 when it was sold freehold to Henry F Ford. It remained in the Ford family until 1930 when it was sold and after subdivision the house and grounds were sold once more. Over the next fifty years Highfield had a number of occupants and the house and outbuildings began to deteriorate. The State Government acquired the property in 1982.
