Nelson, flagship of the Victorian Naval Forces and only ship of the line belonging to an Australian Colony. Nelson was laid down in 1805, launched in 1814 (2700 tons - 126 guns). She was fitted with a screw propeller in 1859 and in 1874 was the first vessel to enter the Alfred Graving Dock. When attached to the Williamstown Naval Depot she was manned by local residents.
