Description: Brown wooden office desk with two side drawers on each side. Drawers are lockable but have no keys and contain an assortment of items from locks to papers. This desk is in the Works Office that was used by the Works Manager/Supervisor during the War Service Land Settlement Scheme on Flinders Island. The desk is exactly as it was left by the last manager, Basil Eastoe. On the top surface of the desk are the following items: two blotter desk pads, pencil sharpener attached to the desk side, carousel of stamps and accompanying stamp pads, homemade galvanised mild steel clip board, wooden clip board with rusty clip attached, wire document trays containing documents, wooden perpetual desk calendar, bakelite and metal annual desk calendar containing paper calendar set for 1972 , abalone shell used as an ashtray, black bakelite dial telephone, leather case that once held a large tape measure, various documents and forms. All are items used in late 1950's and 60's for office work and all are in a degraded and well used condition.
