Description: Sepia postcard of two men on top of the finished beacon at North Point Reef, Stanley and five men standing on the rocks in front of the beacon. The Stanley harbour master was responsible for the maintenance of the beacon mostly painting the galvanised iron mast until it was replaced in 1924 by a new unattended lighthouse built on the hill at Highfield some 45 metres above sea level making it safer for seafarers. The reef can still be a hazard and the Kermandie became its last casualty in 1957.
