      Description: A single wooden butter pat. These come in pairs and were used to form home-made butter into "pats" for the table butter dish and to form "blocks" of one pound weight to be wrapped in paper and sold by the farmer to local shops. The slab of butter was held between the wooden pats and shaped by passing to and fro.
