Description: This building is situated at No. 44 William Street in Westbury, Tasmania. The shop and residence was built in 1893 for Mr. John Mehegan after the first structure built on this site in 1888 was destroyed by fire. In 1931 the general store was entirely re-modelled and a second storey added to cope with the ever growing business. Bluestone street kerbing is visible in the foreground of this image. Two members of the Mehegan family are seen in the picture. The photograph was taken from the eastern direction.
