Description: Postcard showing people wading in water near the wharf at Temma Harbour on the west coast of Tasmania in 1910. Temma Harbour was the most remote of the early sub ports on the west coast of Tasmania and was set up in the early 1900s to serve the mining fields at Balfour which was thirteen miles inland from the harbour. Alluvial tin was found in the area in the mid 1870s but it was the discovery of copper that was mined for a few years that created the activity at Balfour.
