The Dobbins family lived in the foothills of Back River, near New Norfolk, on the average lot of the day, around 30 acres. The chimney is all that remains of the homestead, as it is typical of the many family homes of that era that were built on the banks of running streams that gave access to water for the home, fruit trees, vegetables, poultry and cows that made these lots self-suffient in food except for their flour, tea and sugar. Dennis was married to Hannah Jane Maud Dobbins (nee Cornish), born 1880. From Historic New Norfolk book, series 7. K.Johnson collection.
