Description: Complete set of parts for a large separator without the electric motor or milk holding vessel. The parts in the images stack together to form the separator. This separator was used for separating the milk of a herd of cows at Alcomie until 1976. The farmer supplied cream to a butter factory in cans and reared pigs with the skim milk. After 1976 the separator was used at Togari for a few years on a farm that supplied whole milk to the factory. The farmer separated the milk he fed to his calves and the cream was used in the home to make home made butter.
