Description: When the Wagner family migrated to Tasmania from Germany in 1855 they were allowed one cabin trunk per person. This is a cabin trunk given to Thomas Wagner by his mother. The trunk was not only used to transport clothing and personal items, but was also used as a wardrobe to store their clothing and the trunk was placed under the bed. When Thomas died in 1960 he left his belongings to his niece Irene Howard. On her death in 1964 her possessions were left to her brothers Ron and Cliff Howard. Cliff is now the owner of this trunk which is approximately 150 years old. The trunk is missing its lock. Has side handles.
