Description: Hand made mutton-bird spit, carved from tea-tree, with pointed ends, better described as a wooden rod. The spit is well polished with use. The timber has split in one place. Mutton-birds were threaded on to the spit after they were taken from the burrows. An average load was about 50 birds. The spit was carried on the shoulders to the shed, where it was placed on the rest next to the pluck house. One of the original artefacts in the replica mutton-bird processing shed.
