Click thumbnail for a larger image. | Description: A rudder pintle (part of the gudgeon) recovered from the sea bed, east of the Actaeon Reef in the 1970s by abalone diver,Harry Clarke, who saw part of it protruding from the sand. Its dimensions indicate it was from a large vessel with an old fashioned wide rudder. It may be therefore from the Actaeon, built in 1815 and wrecked on the reef.
