Description: The ship,PACIFIC,of 350 tons, built in London in 1825, was engaged in South Seas Whaling out of Hobart between 1849 and 1861. She was owned by Seal and Gardiner. In 1864 she parted her anchors and was lost at Stewart Island, New Zealand.Inscription on the slide says "The PACIFIC.Built in Limehouse,Middlesex,England 1826.Registered in Hobart Town 19th Feb. 1853.Owner-Phyllis Seal.Sketch from a contemporary painting."
