Hernia Belt

      Date: 1930 -

Description: Oval shaped black bakelite bulb to press on the hernia, attached to a metal strip, further attached to a leather strap. Studs on the back of the bulb fit into holes in the strap to tighten belt. This belt belonged to George Boyes (1853-1942) who lived in his cottage 'The Hermitage' at Palana. The belt was found by his nephew Ross Boyes at the cottage.
