Description: First in a series of photographs showing a group of women at the laying of the foundation stone ceremony of the CWA rooms at Smithton by CWA State President Mrs E Parkes in 1951. The CWA rest rooms in Smithton, Tasmania, were completed and opened on Tuesday April 14 1953 at 2.40 pm by Lady Cross, wife of the Govenor of Tasmania Sir Ronald Cross, during their packed two day trip to Circular Head to visit schools, Montagu Swamp clearing and other things.
