Description: Smithton, Tasmania looking toward the wharf at the bottom of King Street. A ketch is berthed at the wharf. Smithton has very few buildings among the trees and timber stacks at Grey's mill, which began in the early 1900s, near the shacks are in view. In 1919 Smithton was described as a progressive centre because in 1890 there were a dozen residences and by 1919 there were well over 100.
