      Date: 1870 -

Description: Album containing photographs of Evandale people in the 1870s. Illuminated pages by Mercer of Geelong. Lock by Edmonds, 67 Baker Street, W. Dated 11 January 1873. When Robert Russell retired from Evandale he was given a purse full of sovereigns as a farewell gift. With the money he purchased the biggest and best photograph album he could find in Melbourne, and asked all his friends in Evandale to send him their likeness. After his death, this album remained in a Melbourne solicitor's vault for the next 120 years. It was "rescued" and offered to the Evandale History Society and is now the centrepiece of our display.
