 Click thumbnail for a larger image. | Description: The MAWEENA was a 86 ton wooden steam ship built by Purdon & Featherstone in 1913 for Martha Whitehouse. This was another steamer used on the New Norfolk run by the Whitehouse family.The picture shows MAWEENA soon after she was burnt in 1929. She was rebuilt, converted to a motor vessel and sold for use on Papuan rivers, but was wrecked on a reef in 1933.
