      Date: 1895 -

Description: Mercury filled glass thermometer in a wooden case calibrated in Fahrenheit degrees. Thermometer has string attached to glass loop at end. Was used in butter making by professional buttermaker Mary Anne Jackson (grandmother of Frances Rhodes and first wife of John Jackson) in England and also when on Prime Seal Island. Also used by daughter in law May Jackson (nee Blyth)
