![]() Click thumbnail for a larger image. | Description: Mr. Francis Belstead lived with his wife and family at No. 3 Lonsdale Promenade in Westbury, Tasmania. He was employed by the Westbury Council as the Council and Police Clerk from 1863 till 1883. Francis was a community-minded citizen and was involved in various social and sporting activities throughout the district. On leaving Westbury in 1883 he was presented with a silver salver and a purse containing twenty sovereigns. The Belsteads lived in Launceston for a short period before Francis was appointed Secretary of Mines in Hobart. Mr. Belstead remained in this important position until his death in 1898.
