Description: Small tomahawk with mild steel blade and short wooden handle. Used to cut the legs off harvested mutton-birds, a job that was usually done by the younger family members. On Flinders Island school holidays were once timed to coincide with the mutton-bird season. One of the original artefacts in the replica mutton-bird processing shed.
