Description: This is an original photograph form the prison records - one of only two which survived the prison riots of the 1970s. It is situated outside the Chapel entrance on the site and bears the text: John Corley was Deputy Governor at the Hobart Gaol in the 1890s. He was present as the warder in charge at the execution of Arthur Cooley who was hanged for murder in August 1891. Courtesy Mr W.T.
