Description: Large scales. Inscribed W. T. AVERY LTD, MAKERS, BIRMINGHAM, AVERY AUTOPRECISION. TO WEIGH 300 LBS BY 8 OZ. These scales were brought to Flinders Island by Mr A Trueman in 1920-21 for use in the Flinders Island butter factory, which closed in 1974. During the mid 1970's the scales were bought by Jack Bumford and Des Aitken for use in the Pat's River fish factory. In August 1993 they were loaned to the museum by Bill Robertson and John Stavrinos.
