Description: A glass cabinet containing a display of birds of Flinders Island, set on a base of shells, tussocks, sea sponges, rocks and gravel and with a backdrop of a painted seascape. Birds displayed are the Cape Barren Goose, White (albino) Mutton-bird, and two normal Mutton-birds (Sooty Shearwaters), Fairy Penguin and Black Duck. Two Cape Barren Goose eggs and one Mutton-bird egg are also in the display. The birds have been preserved by taxidermy. The display was designed and created by June Rhodes but the individual birds were prepared and donated by different people.
